Vantage Point: Trusting God Because You’ve Seen Him Do It Before

Vantage Point: Trusting God Because You’ve Seen Him Do It Before

I was reading 2 Chronicles one morning and couldn’t shake the words off my spirit. It was one of those moments when the Word practically jumps off the page and into your heart and I knew I needed to share it.
When we’re facing something unfamiliar, whether it be grief, a diagnosis, a season of transition, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. We find ourselves praying, trusting, and hoping that God will show up. That’s a beautiful posture of faith. But the Lord began to show me something deeper about our vantage point.
A vantage point is the particular perspective or position from which you can see something.

And God was showing me that there’s a difference between believing God can and knowing God will.

In 2 Chronicles 20:15, King Jehoshaphat was facing a terrifying battle against a vast enemy army. But God spoke through a prophet to remind the people that they weren’t alone and they didn’t have to fight in their own strength.

“Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

This verse is a powerful reminder that when we face overwhelming situations, God goes before us. The outcome doesn’t rest on our abilities, but on His faithfulness. All He asks is that we trust, stand firm, and let Him fight for us.

Some of us are walking into new battles. Maybe you’ve never navigated this particular heartbreak, fear, or diagnosis before. And yet, you’re still praying. Still trusting. Still showing up with faith. That’s powerful.

But there’s another kind of posture too. It’s the one that comes after you’ve seen God move. The one you carry when you’ve walked through the fire, and now you know, deep in your bones, that He is faithful to do it again.

You’ve watched Him give peace when the grief was too heavy.
You’ve seen Him heal.
You’ve witnessed prodigals return.
You’ve experienced provision when it didn’t make sense.

That kind of knowing shifts your stance. It doesn’t mean the battle isn’t hard. It just means you’ve seen too much to doubt Him now, and you know He is going to show up!

So whether your vantage point today is raw faith or hard-earned wisdom, here’s the truth: God is still the same. (Hebrews 13:8)
He’s faithful in the unfamiliar and the familiar.
He’s near in the valley just like on the mountaintop.

Remember, God is not a respecter of persons (Romans 2:11). What He’s done for others, He will do for you, too.

Friend, don’t walk through this alone. If you’re in the middle of something heavy, reach out to your people. Let someone pray with you, stand with you, and remind you that the battle belongs to the Lord.

And today, wherever you’re standing, remember this:
Your vantage point may shift, but your victory is secure.
